The Job Other Contractors Wouldn't Touch

Vermont Renovation & Remodeling took on a shower remodel project that several other contractors were reluctant to even provide an estimate for because of some floor rotting. Bill not only identified and corrected the source of the issue and replaced the affected area, but came in on budget with no surprises. The project involved carpentry, plumbing, and tilework, and all three were done exceptionally. The tilework and new custom-cut and fitted glass shower door look better than anything we could have imagined. Professional and courteous, they explained clearly what they were doing at all times, and kept us appraised of timelines throughout the life of the project. We will definitely hire them again for any remodel/updating work we have done to our home in the future.

The Full-Disclosure Review

Replaced the windows and front door in my home and they did a great job! They went through the trouble of sourcing and color matching new window trim when the stuff pulled off the old windows was the wrong size, and also replaced some siding that they damaged, so points for taking responsibility! It took almost a whole working day per window to replace each one, and while I saw opportunities where the job MAY have been able to be done faster, I much prefer a job is done right, not done fast.

We had a positive experience with our kitchen/ living room renovation on our vacation home/ Airbnb in Grand Isle VT. Planning was very detailed and thorough and we loved that photos were posted each day documenting daily progress- a key as we were renovating from out of state. All work was done ahead of schedule. ...

Words cannot express how happy we are with Bill, Erik, Matt & Team. They were on their game with the addition/construction of our Colchester home right from the start. With the collaboration and teamwork, they consistently showed their ideas and communication on how the addition came into reality. They also demonstrated confidence in decision-making not to mention problem-solving when things became critical to the house.

I would highly recommend them for any construction/addition to your home.

We recently worked with Vermont Renovation and Remodeling to remove a load bearing wall and open up the kitchen in our 1950s ranch home in Essex Junction. Bill and team were excellent to work with and did an outstanding job. The team was extremely neat in cleaning up the work area every day. From the beginning we felt very comfortable in trusting our project to VT Renovation and Remodeling and we are glad we made the choice to work with them. I'd highly recommend them and we plan to work with them again.

The satisfying whoosh that my new door makes tells me I am no longer throwing away money on a drafty door, all thanks to Bill! I live in a drafty farmhouse as many people in Vermont do, and my old door was little more than a nuisance for cold air as it streamed into my house. Along comes Bill, helpful, knowledgeable, punctual, and reasonably priced to help fix my problem. By the end of the day, I had a fantastic near air tight door complete with a beautiful storm door for added heat savings!

Don't think for one minute it was a straight-forward job. Nothing in my house is square or level, and there were surprises abound when he extricated my old door. But Bill used a combination of know-how, imagination, and ingenuity to make it fit perfectly and look great!

I can't recommend him highly enough, because not only is he extremely capable, he's also an all around great person to work with!

The No-Upsell Review

We’ve entrusted Bill and his team with several projects on our 50+ year-old log cabin, and each time they have proven to be reliable, honest, and hardworking. Not only did they complete every task to our satisfaction, but they also thoughtfully highlighted important issues we should be aware of—without ever trying to upsell us. We couldn’t be more pleased with the quality of their work and the integrity they bring to every job.

The 1880s Farmhouse Review

Attic Renovation--Vermont Renovation and Remodeling worked with my partner and I over the course of a year to design and build out our 1880s farmhouse. The project had many working parts including moving a set of terribly steep stairs and building a new stairwell in a different area of the home. We were hoping to renovate the original and unused attic space of our home and add a bedroom and bathroom. VTR&R offered several designs and worked with us to plan for our current and future needs. At the end of the project, we have finished with more than we could have imagined! Their staff offered creative solutions to small areas (built in bookshelf to hide old stairwell entry), they were committed to refinishing and saving the original hardwood floors, and added touches original to the old home that makes the house feel authentic and fresh.

In home, their staff and contractors are vetted and great to work with. Since we often work from home, working hours often overlapped and there was always communication and warnings for any changes or requests to keep the renovation moving without disruption to us and the job timeline. During very few hiccups for such a large project, Bill was sure to communicate options and be proactive with solutions. We highly recommend VTR&R and will use this company again in the future whenever our home needs works beyond our own capabilities. Thanks again for the unique touches and the great experience!

I worked with the good people at Vermont Renovation and Remodeling for a complete kitchen remodel at my Burlington, Vermont home. I cannot speak highly enough of them and the quality of their work. Bill, Erik, and the team helped me design the kitchen, identify what I needed to do to realize my vision, were patient when I had trouble making a decision, and got the project done on time and within budget. Their commitment to my project was obvious and greatly appreciated. My kitchen turned out better than I could have imagined. I definitely intend to work with them again on a complete bathroom remodel - they were that good.

I was immediately impressed with Bill’s quick communication and his depth of knowledge. He put me at ease by explaining pricing and options early on, and we quickly created a realistic vision for my renovation.

We used Vermont Renovation and Remodeling for a three season porch conversion and their work was fantastic! They were knowledgeable, communicative, and their work was absolutely top notch. We went from a barely usable, almost non-functioning porch to an incredible new room in our house! I would highly recommend Bill and his team

Bill and his crew were a pleasure to work with - local, responsive, trustworthy, efficient, and cost-effective. They took a bathroom shower/tile/wood floor (original pinewood bathroom floor - go figure) repair project and got it done on time and under budget. Recommend them 100%.
